Scottish Independence Talks: 5 Million Questions lunchtime seminar by Professor John Kay

University of Dundee will be welcoming Professor John Kay on Thursday, 27 February 2014 from 12:00 to 14:00 (GMT) in LT4 Dalhousie Building. John Kay is one of Britain’s leading economists, his interests focusing on the relationships between economics and business. A visiting Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and a Fellow of St John’s College, Oxford, he is also a regular contributor to the Financial Times. More recently, Professor Kay has been an incisive commentator on economic aspects of the independence debate, chiefly currency.

Join Five Million Questions for a lunchtime seminar in which Professor Kay will examine where the referendum debate currently lies: is a currency union feasible in the event of a “yes” vote? Could independence lead to greater economic growth and a reduction in inequality? Or would a ‘devo-max’ settlement represent the best outcome for Scotland?

Professor Kay will speak for 10-15 minutes and then take part in a discussion with specially invited guests. There will also be scope for questions from the floor.
