The University of Strathclyde’s School of Law is delighted to announce that the annual Robert Burgess Memorial Lecture will be given by Prof Kent Roach (University of Toronto) on Tuesday 15 March 2016 on ‘The Islamic State Effect: Counter-terrorism at the Cross-roads?’

This lecture will critically assess the responses to foreign terrorist fighters in the United Nations, the European Union and in a variety of countries including the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada. It will examine a number of interventions including bans on terrorist travel, exclusion orders, attempts to punish speech and programs targeting extremism.
